Layton police are looking for a teen suspected of trying to kidnap a 10-year-old girl while she walking home through a park.

At about 3:35 p.m. on Wednesday, the girl was walking through the park next to Adams Elementary School when a "high-school age" male came up behind her and grabbed her by her upper arms, according to the police. The attacker was wearing a dark ski mask and dark sunglasses.

She escaped his grasp, but he kicked and hit her as she got away, said Lt. Jason Hinojosa. The attacker was scared off when a vehicle drove by on a nearby street.

The girl went home and waited several hours before she told her family what happened. Her mother took the girl to Davis Hospital and Medical Center, where employees reported the incident to the police. They also found she had very minor bruises on her upper arms.

At this point, investigators have no leads besides a description of the attacker from the victim, Hinojosa said. He's described as having a thin build, is about 5-foot-7, has tan skin and was wearing a neon yellow long-sleeve shirt, light blue baggy denim jeans and red and white DC brand shoes.

Police are asking the public for help in finding him. Anyone with information is asked call the Layton Police Department at 801-497-8300.
