BYU's men's tennis team was pleased with its first day of the Utah Fall Tennis Classic, with five singles players advancing.

Keaton Cullimore, Spencer Smith, Patrick Kawka, John Pearce and Francis Sargeant advanced, and the Cougars saw only two players lose their first-round matches. One of those losses came at the hands of a Utah rival, Alejandro Medinilla.

The Utes' duo of Slim Hanza and Devin Lane beat BYU's Scott Bohne and Travis Fillmore in the quarterfinals for doubles.

Women's soccer

BYU 5, Texas 0 • The Cougars dominated, piling on five goals in the second half and outshooting the Longhorns 30-8. Michelle Murphy led BYU with two goals and an assist.

Montana State-Billings 2, Dixie State 0 • Despite three shots on goal from Jennifer Mason, the Red Storm was shut out by MSU's two second-half goals.
