Sophomore Jill Robison scored in the 56th minute to give the Utah women's soccer team a 1-0 win over the Texas Longhorns on Saturday at Ute Field.

Katie Taylor notched an assist with a low pass up the middle to Robison, who drilled a 9-yard shot into the lower right corner and past Texas goalkeeper Ava Vogel to help Utah (4-1-1) extend its unbeaten streak to five games.

The Utes outshot Texas 20-4 and had a 7-2 edge in shots on goal in the first-ever meeting between the two schools, played in front of 982 fans.

Goalkeeper Lindsey Luke had two saves to earn the shutout.

BYU 3, Penn St. 1 • In Provo, Jessica Ringwood scored two goals to lead the No. 24-ranked Cougars to the upset win over the No. 6 Nittany Lions before a school-record crowd of 4,922. Michelle Murphy also scored for BYU (6-1), and Carlee Holmoe had two assists.

Southern Utah 2, Utah Valley 2 • In Cedar City, the Wolverines rallied from a two-goal deficit for the tie. Sabrina Herdnandez and Stacey Brinkman scored in the first half for SUU. UVU benefitted from an own goal late in the first half, and Regan Benson scored the equalizer in the 69th minute, knocking in a deflection of Lexi Dunn's free kick.

Women's volleyball

BYU 3, Portland St. 0 • In Provo, the Cougars improved to 9-0 and earned their third tournament title of the season, beating Portland State 25-20, 25-21, 28-26 for the BYU Nike Invitational crown.

Jessica Jardine had 10 kills and a career-high 15 digs for BYU, while tournament MVP Jennifer Hamson recorded 15 kills and 11 digs. Heather Hannemann had 37 assists and 12 digs.

Utah 3, Bowling Green 2 • In Provo, Morgan Odale had 18 kills and 13 digs as the Utes edged the Falcons 29-27, 26-28, 21-25, 25-22, 15-11 in their final match at the BYU tournament.

Weber State 3, Texas-Pan American 1 • In Hammond, La., the Wildcats won the Lion Classic, defeating the University of Texas-Pan American 27-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-20 in the final match, led by Briana Wilms' 16 kills.

Westminster 3, Montana Western 0 • Alexis Aalona posted 11 kills and 11 digs as the Griffins beat Montana Western in their Frontier Conference opener, 26-24, 25-16, 25-22.

SLCC 3, Blinn 1 • In Houston, the Bruins wrapped up a 7-0 run through the Woodland Waves Tournament, beating Blinn College 21-25, 25-21, 25-19, 29-27.


Georgia Military 47, Snow 30 • In Milledgeville, Ga., Snow's Christian Stewart threw two touchdown passes to Lowry Akers, but Georgia Military rallied for the win.
