A 3-year-old boy was taken to the hospital in serious condition after he fell from a second-story window in Midvale.

The boy was taken via ambulance with injuries to his arm, according to United Fire Authority Capt. Cliff Burningham. Internal injuries to his head or elsewhere were not known.

The fall happened shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday at 7599 S. Birch St. (50 West) at an apartment complex. Burningham said the fall likely was accidental. The screen in an apartment window was pushed out and the boy fell through the opening, he said. The boy was conscious when emergency responders arrived.
