Firefighters are working to contain a large fire that flared up Saturday just south of Jackson Hole, Wyo., prompting evacuations of homes and businesses just south of the resort town.
Charlotte Reynolds of the Teton County Sheriff's Office said the Little Horse Thief Canyon Fire had grown to about 750 acres as of late Saturday night, consuming mostly grass, sagebrush and timber for fuel. The cause of the fire was not yet known Saturday night, Reynolds said.
Homes and businesses just south of Jackson Hole were evacuated earlier Saturday after the blaze started moving in a northeastern direction toward the town. Those evacuation orders were lifted at about 8 p.m., Reynolds said.
