Woods Cross police have identified a man struck and killed shortly after he had removed a deer carcass from a road Tuesday night.
Woods Cross Police Chief Greg Butler said Wednesday that the victim was David Talbot, 64, of Layton.
Talbot was struck and killed about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. He had pulled over onto the shoulder of northbound Redwood Road near 1900 South after seeing the deer on the road. He moved the animal aside and was walking back to his vehicle when he was hit by an SUV.
Talbot was declared dead at the scene, police said.
Butler said no citations had been issued, but routine blood samples were taken from both the victim and the driver of the SUV as part of the investigation.
"However, we have nothing so far to indicate drugs or alcohol were a factor [in the accident]," Butler said.
The results of the investigation will be screened by the Davis County Attorney's Office, which will decide if any charges are warranted.
