Gov. Gary Herbert has appointed Assistant Utah Attorney General Barry Lawrence to fill a vacancy on the 3rd District Court resulting from the retirement of Judge William Barrett, effective Nov. 1.
"Barry Lawrence will bring valuable perspective and analysis to the 3rd District Court," Herbert said in a news release. "His combination of public- and private-sector experience and his years of dedication to the rule of law will be a great asset to the court."
Lawrence's background includes the public and private sectors of law. He has served in the Attorney General's Office since June 2000. He began working as the torts section chief in 2009.
