According to charges filed last week in 3rd District Court, Winston was last seen alive in a car belonging to Reyos, and the woman lied to police about the name of a man to whom she loaned the car. She later admitted to lying "for fear of retaliation" and planned to leave the country with her boyfriend, the charges state.
Winston was fatally shot Aug. 29, and his body was found in a vacant Sugar House lot, near 1120 E. Crandall Ave. (about 2900 South). Police have arrested Jessica Reyos' brother, 30-year-old Frank Reyos, in connection with the slaying, but formal charges have yet to be filed against the man.
When officers located Jessica Reyos' car, police said they found what was "presumptively blood spatter" inside, according to jail documents. A witness allegedly told police that Frank Reyos admitted he shot Kenyatta Winston then dumped his body in east Salt Lake City.
Another woman, Brittney Montano, 21, has been charged with obstructing the service of a board of pardons warrant for allegedly helping Frank Reyos flee from police.
