Boise, Idaho • In a game that might have set BYU offensive football back decades, the Cougars could not overcome their ineptitude enough to beat Boise State at Bronco Stadium.

BYU's offensive troubles lasted most of Thursday night. It threw the ball for a mere 61 yards. Still, near the end, the Cougars had a chance to win. Led by freshman quarterback Taysom Hill, who replaced starter Riley Nelson midway through the third quarter, BYU stirred an 11-play, 95-yard drive that ended in a 4-yard Hill touchdown run with 3:37 remaining.
