Bakersfield, Calif. • Erica Nish had a team-high nine kills to lead Utah Valley University to a 25-19, 25-22, 25-21 victory in over Maryland-Eastern Shore in women's volleyball at the Wolverines' opening game of the Roadrunner Classic.

Lauren Stringham had seven kills and Brookelyn Hall tallied seven kills and a match-high 29 assists for UVU (7-5).

Great Falls 3, Westminster 1 • Ashley Marchant pounded out 16 kills, but it wasn't enough as Great Falls won in Salt Lake City, 25-21, 25-21, 21-15, 25-21 in Frontier Conference play.

Katie Vance had 11 kills and Stephane Jones Morin tallied nine for the Griffins (9-6, 2-2 FC).

Women's soccer

Weber State 1, Eastern Washington • In Cheney, Wash., Macknzie Harrison scored in the 79th minute as the Wildcats won their Big Sky Conference opener on the road. Ryann Waldman made six saves to earn the shutout for Weber State (3-7, 1-0 Big Sky).

Idaho 1, Utah Valley 0 • In Moscow, Idaho, Erica Hart scored midway through the second half, lifting the Vandals over the Wolverines. Lauren Sack made fives saves for UVU (1-7-1).

Westminster 2, Northwest 0 • In Kirkland, Wash., Margo Hickman and Jaime Nelson each score goals as the 20th-ranked Griffins earned their fourth straight victory. Dayna Winter-Nolte made four saves to earn her second shutout of the season for Westminster (8-1).

Women's tennis

Provo • BYU's Desiree Tran and Meghan Sheehan-Dizon earned their way to the doubles finals at the BYU Invitational on Friday.

Tran and Sheehan-Dizon beat two doubles teams Friday: Wyoming's Jessica Parizher and Silviya Zhelyazkova, 8-5, and Weber State's Kristi Elmer and Thais Kurer, 8-1. The BYU duo play Wyoming's Simona Synkova and Veronica Popovici in the doubles finals at 9 a.m. Saturday.

BYU had five singles players still alive in the singles division Friday morning, but all were knocked out by the end of the day.

Utah State's Mackenzie Davis earned a trip to the singles final by way of injury forfeit in the semifinals. She will play Wyoming's Simona Synkova, who defeated Tran 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 in the semifinals. The singles finals begins at 1 p.m. Saturday.
