Defending champion Humboldt State defeated Dixie State 49-13 on Saturday in St. George in a first-place showdown in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

The Lumberjacks (4-0, 3-0) raced to a 28-0 halftime lead and held off the Red Storm (2-2, 2-1) for the victory.

Dixie State quarterback Griff Robles completed 6 of 17 passes for 47 yards and a touchdown and also ran 10 times for 88 yards. Kaleo Nawahine relieved Robles and went 4 of 10 for 33 yards.

Nick Riccardulli had 18 carries for 157 yards and three touchdowns for the Lumberjacks, who gained 451 yards of total offense and held the Red Storm to 273.
