This weekend I will be traveling to the Keystone State of Pennsylvania for a wedding. (I heave heard that Pennsylvania is actually a commonwealth rather than a rigidly defined state, but even though I spent the first 18 months of my full-time journalism in Scranton, I never understood that. I also didn't understand why taxes were called mills.)

I will be going to the wedding of a former colleague at the Scranton Times-Tribune, and the ceremony will be held in the bride's hometown of Mechanicsburg. It didn't escape me that two other former residents of Mechanicsburg are Bret Michaels and Rikki Rockett of Poison, who grew up there but then left together to find fame and success in Los Angeles.
