Salt Lake City Police are looking for a driver who hit a 68-year-old woman using a crosswalk and then drove away.

Police Det. Josh Ashdown said the man was driving on 400 South when he hit a woman crossing the street in front of Sherwood Park near 1400 West.

Witnesses told police the man pulled over briefly, looked at the scene and took off. He was driving a blue or turquoise-colored Dodge Caliber and headed north on Redwood Road at about 7 p.m. Thursday. Ashdown said the pedestrian was injured but will be able to recover.

Police described the driver as an African-American man in his early 20s with a large "Afro" hairstyle.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Salt Lake City Police at 801-799-3000.
