Republican candidate for Utah's 4th Congressional District Mia Love has said that she wants to do away with student loans in order to help cut federal spending. In response to complaints that that would make college unaffordable for many people, Love's answer is to cut tuition. I have two questions:

1. How does Love propose to cut tuition? Specifics, please.

2. Public institutions of higher learning are funded by states, private institutions by religions and other donations, and then there are for-profit colleges. Does Love propose that the federal government mandate by law that all these entities lower their tuition rates? I thought she was campaigning for less federal intrusion, not more. Explain, please.
