A 50-year-old homeless man died Friday night after a pickup truck hit him near Pioneer Park.

The man jaywalked from the park across 400 West, at 351 South, when a northbound truck hit him about 8:55 p.m., said Salt Lake police Lt. J.R. Nelson. The man was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are waiting to release his name pending notification of his family.

Investigators do not expect to charge the driver.
