After BYU's 6-3 win over Utah State on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, Cougars linebacker Kyle Van Noy appeared at the postgame news conference and talked about the defense's effort in the victory.

BYU's defense has now gone 13 quarters without allowing an offensive touchdown and has held its opponents to fewer than 300 total yards the last 12 games, dating back to last year's 38-28 win over Oregon State when the Beavers — Saturday's opponent — mustered a late drive to go over the 300-yard plateau.

The last time BYU won a game scoring six points or fewer was in 1946 when it beat Wyoming 6-3.
