Roadwork could disrupt some weekend travel plans around the state, from closing part of 700 East and the 5600 West bridge over Interstate 80 in Salt Lake City to closing most northbound lanes on I-15 in North Salt Lake plus a road widening project that may throw some unwary BYU football fans for a loss.
The Utah Transit Authority is closing 700 East through the weekend between 2100 South and Ashton Avenue (2340 South). That is for construction of a railroad crossing for the new Sugar House streetcar.
Meanwhile, the Utah Department of Transportation will close the 5600 West bridge over I-80 from Friday night through Sunday night for maintenance. On- and off-ramps to I-80 will be open, but traffic will be unable to cross the bridge.
