RUNNING • Nathan Hornok of Salt Lake City ran to a hometown victory in the inaugural Utah Marathon on Saturday, while Sarah Labass of Simi Valley, Calif., won the women's division. Hornok finished in 2 hours, 38 minutes, 25 seconds on a course that started and finished downtown. Steve Cuttitta (2:49.52) of Heber placed second, and Riley Cook (2:51.35) of South Weber was third.

Labass finished in 3:20.46, ahead of Salt Lake City's Meredith Sinclair (3:25.45) and Anastasia Beiting.

Murray, Djokovic reach final

tennis • Two-time defending champion Andy Murray beat an erratic-serving Roger Federer in a rainy semifinal, setting up a U.S. Open final rematch against Novak Djokovic at the Shanghai Masters. Djokovic reached his 10th final of the year by defeating fourth-seeded Tomas Berdych 6-3, 6-4 in the earlier semifinal.
