Roy police are looking for whoever crashed a stolen car into a house on Thursday, then fled the scene.

The driver of the maroon Buick lost control on a shallow curve and drove into the side of a house near 4700 South 4000 West in Roy about 1 p.m., said police Sgt. Curtis Gibson. The car went through a wall and into a small bedroom — though the family who lives at the home are on vacation.

The crash caused extensive damage to both the car and the side of the house, Gibson said. But by the time emergency responders arrived, the driver was gone.

The car had also been reported stolen only a couple blocks away from the crash, which leads police to believe that the driver stole it only minutes before, Gibson said.

Police made arrangements to secure the damaged home while the family is away.
