A 16-year-old boy was struck and injured by a car near Salt Lake City's East High School Tuesday morning.
Salt Lake City police Det. Shawn Josephson said the youth hit his head on the pavement near 800 South and 1300 East after being knocked down by the car about 8:15 a.m.
Josephson said it appeared the boy was attempting to cross the busy street at mid-block, not in a crosswalk.
The boy was bleeding from the head but conscious and appeared otherwise uninjured when taken to University Hospital for a precautionary examination. Later, doctors determined his injuries were minor and he was treated and released, Josephson said.
No citations were immediately issued to the 47-year-old female driver, but investigation continued.
