Jazz CEO Greg Miller said Commissioner David Stern, who announced Thursday he will retire in 2014, "consistently demonstrated a sincere interest in the well being of our franchise."

Stern announced his pending retirement at the NBA Board of Governors meeting in New York. He will be replaced by Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver. Stern will retire 30 years to the day after taking over as the league's commissioner. The Jazz's Miller called Stern "fair and objective" and said "the NBA has seen unprecedented growth and development" during his tenure.

Here's Miller's full statement:

"Since our family bought the Jazz in 1985, David Stern has consistently demonstrated a sincere interest in the well being of our franchise. He has been fair and objective. During his tenure as commissioner the NBA has seen unprecedented growth and development. On behalf of the Larry Miller family I would like to express gratitute to David for all he has done to help build and strengthen the Utah Jazz, and wish him a healthy and happy future."
