Jazz CEO Greg Miller said Commissioner David Stern, who announced Thursday he will retire in 2014, "consistently demonstrated a sincere interest in the well being of our franchise."
Stern announced his pending retirement at the NBA Board of Governors meeting in New York. He will be replaced by Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver. Stern will retire 30 years to the day after taking over as the league's commissioner. The Jazz's Miller called Stern "fair and objective" and said "the NBA has seen unprecedented growth and development" during his tenure.
