Bountiful police are looking for a 24-year-old woman and her son, for whom she does not have legal custody, after she took the autistic boy out of school Wednesday.

Heather Lee Martin removed Riley James Martin, 6, from school without permission from administrators, according to police.

Police say the woman was wearing a white shirt and an unknown color of pants. Heather Martin left on foot and appeared anxious, agitated and physically unkempt, police say.

She has a history of illegal drug use that negatively impacts her ability to care for her son, according to police. The boy is currently in custody of the state.

Authorities do not know in which direction she was headed or what kind of vehicle she may be driving. She is known to frequent downtown Salt Lake City.
