A former counselor at a Panguitch ranch for troubled teens has been sentenced to spend at least five years in prison.

Eric Glosson, 29, pleaded guilty in 6th District Court Thursday to two charges of forcible sodomy. As part of a plea deal, two counts of forcible sodomy, four counts of forcible sexual abuse and two counts of dealing in materials harmful to a minor were dismissed.

Judge Wallace Lee ordered the man to the two five-years-to-life sentences concurrently, to be served after he finishes serving a 15-year term in federal prison for production of child pornography, which also occurred at the boys ranch.

Glosson worked at Silverado Academy, a 200-acre ranch that advertises itself as a clinical boarding school for teens.

Prosecutors say the sexual abuse took place between April 20 and June 18, 2011.

Glosson was sentenced in May in the federal case, after pleading guilty to making child pornography. He admitted in U.S. District Court to coercing a 16-year-old boy into sexually explicit conduct while Glosson recorded it with a video camera.

"There were those that said I should have gone with the federal charges only," Garfield County Attorney Barry Huntington said in a news release Thursday. "But that would have meant Glosson would be out in 15 years, and I wanted to make certain that would never happen."
