UVU unable to stop Spartans

Antoine Hosley scored 14 points for the Utah Valley men's basketball team, which couldn't stop South Carolina-Upstate's hot shooting and lost 75-50 in the Wolverines' finale at the CBE Hall of Fame Classic on Friday in Santa Clara, Calif.

UVU took a 10-8 lead three minutes into the game, but the Spartans raced to a 23-point lead after making 17 of their first 21 field-goal attempts. USC-Upstate led 44-24 at halftime.

"We never matched their energy past the first three minutes of the game," UVU coach Dick Hunsaker said. "They just simply outplayed us."

Ben Aird added nine points and nine rebounds and was named to the all-tournament team for the Wolverines (3-4). Torrey Craig and Adrian Rodgers scored 19 points each to lead USC-Upstate (2-4).

Westminster 85, Cal State-San Marcos 61 • Jordan Bjornberg scored a career-high 23 points and set a school record by going 10-for-10 from the field to lead the Griffins in their Westminster Thanksgiving Classic.

"He came off the bench tonight and gave us that spark," Westminster coach Adam Hiatt said.

Jake Orchard and Tallon Robertson added 14 points each for the Griffins (6-1).

SLCC 85, Eastern Wyoming 69 • The Bruins (5-2) shot 9-for-13 from 3-point range to earn the home victory.

Skyler Halford led SLCC with 14 points.

Women's basketball

Long Beach State 77, Utah Valley 69 • The Wolverines couldn't hold on to a 19-point lead and lost at home. Sammie Jensen and Taylor Huber each scored 17 points for UVU (1-5).

Texas Tech 73, Southern Utah 54 • Casey Morris scored 18 points and Christine Hyde added 16 for the Thunderbirds (1-2), who lost their first game of the Basketball Travelers Invitational in Lubbock, Texas.

Westminster 60, Eastern Oregon 59 • Allie Eastern scored 20 points, and the Griffins (5-1) survived a last-second 3-point attempt by the Mountaineers (6-2) to win at the Lady Yote Classic in Caldwell, Idaho.

SLCC 82, Lamar CC 55 • Rachel Morris scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Bruins (5-1) won in the SLCC Thanksgiving Classic.

Women's volleyball

Utah def. Colorado 14-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-16 • Chelsey Schofield registered 13 kills, Erin Redd added 12 and Morgan Odale posted 11 as the Utes defeated the Buffaloes on Senior Night at Crimson Court.

McKenzie Odale and Kendall Cygan each collected 21 assists for the Utes (14-19, 5-15 Pac-12), who shot .282 for the match despite only a .156 percentage in the first game.

Schofield added 14 digs for her eighth double-double in her last nine matches.

The Buffaloes fell to 14-18, 4-16. State colleges: UVU men's basketball falls to South Carolina-Upstate 75-50
