Washington • Georgetown held Towson scoreless over the final 4 1/2 minutes, and the No. 15 Hoyas won their second home clankfest in a row, recovering from a 17-point first half to beat Towson 46-40 on Saturday.
Greg Whittington scored 11 points, while Mikael Hopkins and Otto Porter had 10 apiece for the Hoyas (7-1), who shot 17 percent in the first half and 29 percent for the game. Georgetown won with defense. It forced 22 turnovers and pulled away if it could be called that with a 4-0 game-ending run.
Georgetown transfer Jerrelle Benimon had 11 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Tigers (4-5), who are rebuilding with only three scholarship players from last season's 1-31 team.
