The Staples Foundation, the charitable arm of Staples Inc., has donated $3,500 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Utah County.

The donation was part of $1.4 million in grants made by the foundation to 434 non-profit organizations in 43 states under a new program that lets Staples associates direct donations.

The foundation said its new program encourages local community engagement by awarding grants to organizations where its associations are highly engaged in volunteering or fundraising.
