The Utah Department of Natural Resources has announced that Greg Sheehan has been selected the new director of the Division of Wildlife Resources. Sheehan, a department employee with 20 years of experience, has been the DWR's administrative services chief since 2002.
The Salt Lake City-based law firm of Durham Jones & Pinegar announced that four associate attorneys have been elected as shareholders effective Nov. 1. They are Patrick E. Johnson, Erin T. Middleton, Jason P. Nixon and Z. Ryan Pahnke. Johnson focuses on commercial litigation and bankruptcy, with emphasis on creditors' rights and the representation of trustees. Middleton, who concentrates on employment law and commercial litigation, received her law degree from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah. Nixon is an intellectual property attorney with an electrical engineering background. He received his bachelor's in electrical engineering from the University of Utah, and his law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School. Pahnke joined the firm in 2007, after completing a clerkship with Judge Dee Benson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah. His practice focuses primarily on commercial litigation.
Utah Valley University's Office of Academic Affairs has named Richard Tafalla, professor of psychology and director of the Cognitive Science Program at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, vice president for scholarship and development. In the new administrative position he will oversee UVU's Scholarly & Creative Activities Council, the Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence, the Office of Sponsored Programs, Grants for Engaged Learning, undergraduate research, the Office of Academic Research Support and the Institutional Review Board.
Jennifer Evans, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, has joined Rocky Mountain Women's Health Center, opening a new location in West Point. Evans earned her medical degree at the University of Utah School of Medicine. After medical school, she completed an obstetrics/gynecology residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Gregory Baker, a board-certified neurologist with nine years of experience in private practice and government settings, has opened Davis Neurology Associates in Layton. The practice is a member of Physician Group of Utah. Baker earned his medical degree from Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine.
The Leonardo museum in downtown Salt Lake City announced that Troy D'Ambrosio and Kirk D. Johnson have joined its board of directors. D'Ambrosio co-founded multiple startup companies, including Transworld Telecommunications, which was sold to Sprint in 1996; Convergence Communications, which was sold to Lockheed Martin in 2005; and EPM Mining Ventures, which is listed on the Toronto Venture Exchange. Johnson has been vice president and general manager of Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp., Digital Theater Division, since January 2002. He joined Evans & Sutherland in 1990 as a regulatory engineer.
