Vince Horiuchi's column on adopting the latest home-viewing technology struck a nerve ("With new line, Slingbox's time has come," Tribune, Dec. 18).
I am one of those troglodytes who tends to hold on to a proven way of doing things until it has been totally superseded by a quicker, less expensive and altogether superior method.
So I no longer own a Model T, icebox or 8-track. But I still have hundreds of VHS tapes and two combination DVD/VHS machines that work very well.
The picture is not always perfect, but it is quite good, and it has never broken apart or stopped working at a crucial moment in the plot, as DVDs often do. So I'll happily stick with my tapes for the foreseeable future.
