MLB • The Tampa Bay Rays have announced American League Cy Young Award winner David Price has agreed to a one-year deal for just over $10 million and avoided arbitration.
Price became the franchise's first 20-game winner in 2012, going 20-5 with an AL-best 2.56 ERA. He narrowly beat out Detroit's Justin Verlander for the honor.
Guv sues NCAA due to Penn St. sanctions
NCAA • In a bold challenge to the NCAA's powers, Pennsylvania's governor claimed in a lawsuit Wednesday that college sports' governing body overstepped its authority and "piled on" when it penalized Penn State over the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal.
Gov. Tom Corbett asked that a federal judge throw out the sanctions, which include a $60 million fine and a four-year ban on bowl games, arguing the measures have harmed students, business owners and others who had nothing to do with Sandusky's crimes.
The case, filed under federal antitrust law, could define just how far the NCAA's authority extends. Up to now, the federal courts have allowed the organization broad powers.
King now owner of bowling team

King is the celebrity owner of the New York City WTT KingPins, joining Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul and former NFL stars Jerome Bettis and Terrell Owens as celebrity owners in the Professional Bowlers Association's inaugural PBA League.
U.S. routs Czechs in junior hockey
