Re "Public invited to Herbert's inaugural Monday" and "Salt Lake County Mayor-elect Ben McAdams plans celebration" (Tribune, Jan. 4):

Our governor, Gary Herbert, plans a wonderful reception to honor his new term in office — at a cost of $30,000 to taxpayers.

Our new Salt Lake County mayor, Ben McAdams, plans a celebration to honor his taking office — underwritten by the Zoo, Arts & Parks tax.

How dandy! This money would be better spent on education. Thanks again, Gary and Ben.
