A 39-year-old man found dead inside a camp trailer in Fort Duchesne on Jan. 7 was the victim of a homicide, according to police.

Uintah County Undersheriff John Laursen said Thursday that an autopsy by the state Medical Examiner's Office determined David Urrutia was killed by another person. He declined to reveal the cause of death, citing the ongoing investigation.

Laursen has previously said Urrutia's body was discovered Monday afternoon by deputies about 3:40 p.m., after his sister called 911 and asked them to check on him. She said he had recently been in a fight and she had been unable to reach him by telephone.

On Monday, Laursen said he could not discuss whether injuries from the fight were connected to Urrutia's death, and declined to say whether his body showed signs of trauma.

Deputies found Urrutia's remains inside his trailer, which was parked at the Country Village Mobile Home Park in Fort Duchesne.
