Thank you to the 83 percent of people in St. George who want Dixie College to keep the Dixie name when it becomes a state university ("Survey says, keep 'Dixie' – nearly 83 percent support name," Tribune, Jan. 10).

It's sad, but many of our citizens really need to get a life. I hope the next hubbub won't be about names like Southern Pacific Railroad or Union Pacific Railroad or Fort Union Boulevard, etc. I also hope the men and women who have Dixie as their first name won't feel they have to get a name change.

It is easy to see why many outside of our state view us as a laughingstock.
