What about Eccles?

I was dismayed that The Tribune's list of "Utah-related sights in D.C." included Sen. Mike Lee's Wednesday "Jell-O with the Senator," but not the Marriner S. Eccles Federal Reserve Building ("See Utah — in D. C," Tribune, Jan. 14).

Any visiting Utahn would puff up with pride at this magnificent marble structure, knowing the name prominently displayed belongs to a homegrown Utahn. During the Great Depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed Eccles as the first chairman of the reorganized Federal Reserve Board to help our nation prevent further economic disasters.

A recent Tribune article credited Eccles for Social Security, unemployment insurance and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
