Grilla Bites, a California-based restaurant that emphasizes healthy eating, is expected to open its first Utah location in February near the Gallivan Center in downtown Salt Lake City.

The restaurant serves soups, salads, sandwiches and hamburgers using organic and sustainable ingredients whenever possible, according to the company website. The menu has many vegetarian or vegan options.

Fred Marken started Grilla Bites, which as a gorilla logo, more than a decade ago in Chico Calif., after working 15 years in the organic food industry. Since then the company has opened shops in Redding, Calif. and Snohomish, Wash.

The Salt Lake City shop at 49 W. Gallivan Ave. will be the company's fourth location. For more information visit: at www.grillabites.com
