Utah State football isn't leaving the keys of its new weight room for just anybody. For its new strength and conditioning coach, the program reached out to the NFL.
Dave Scholz, who worked for the San Francisco 49ers the past two seasons, has joined the program as the guy in charge of making the Aggies bigger, faster and stronger. He will start immediately, forgoing a chance at working out with the Super Bowl contenders to start a new position with a team competing for a Mountain West title next season.
Scholz has a history with Utah State, serving as the assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2008 to 2010, and working as a graduate assistant for the Aggies before that. He has a master's degree from Utah State.
