State colleges: Utah Valley trounces Northern New Mexico

Ben Aird and Antoine Hosley scored 16 points each to lead the Utah Valley University men's basketball team to an 86-63 win over Northern New Mexico on Monday in Orem.

Zach Jones scored 14 points for the Wolverines (12-13), while Holton Hunsaker and Jason Johnson added 12 each.

Men's golf • Utah State's Tanner Higham and BYU's Stephen Archibald were among four players tied for the lead after shooting 70 in the first round of the SUU Thunderbird Invite at Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George.

Women's golf • Weber State's Amanda Snyder shot a 78 and was tied for ninth place after the first day of The Lumberjack at Ocotillo in Chandler, Ariz., helping put the Wildcats in third place in the team standings. Southern Utah's Monica Jung and Sadie Palmer were among four players tied for third, at 77, putting the Thunderbirds in fourth place.
