MLB • The Angels will hold their first full-squad workout Friday at Tempe Diablo Stadium with their three stars — Albert Pujols, Josh Hamilton and reigning AL Rookie of the Year Mike Trout — together at last. Hamilton, the 2010 AL MVP, received a $125 million, five-year contract in mid-December, a year after Pujols' $240 million, 10-year deal.

Trout, a former Salt Lake Bee, produced of the most impressive rookie seasons ever. He led the AL in runs (129) and stolen bases (49), hit 30 homers with 83 RBIs and finished second in the batting race at .326 behind Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera.

• The St. Louis Cardinals announced a three-year contract extension with general manager John Mozeliak on Thursday and exercised the 2014 option for manager Mike Matheny, hoping the pair will keep the team contending for the World Series.

France's Worley wins women's GS

Skiing • Tessa Worley won the giant slalom, earning France its fourth medal of the world championships in Schladming, Austria.

Worley held on to her lead after the first run and finished in a combined time of 2 minutes, 8.06 seconds to lead the field by more than a second.

American teen Mikaela Shiffrin finished 2.30 behind in sixth in her first appearance at a major championship.

U.S. soccer drops in FIFA rankings

Soccer • The United States dropped four spots to No. 32 in the latest FIFA rankings after losing a World Cup qualifier to 51st-ranked Honduras.

World Cup champion Spain leads the rankings.
