"That kind of game is great for the fans, but it's what gives coaches gray hair," said Therrien, the Penguins' former coach. "But we managed to find a way to get a point."
There had already been four lead changes when Sutter took a pass from Simon Despres on a rush, stepped around Max Pacioretty and beat goalie Carey Price with a high shot to the glove side to end the game. That helped Pittsburgh snap a two-game skid and avoid being swept on a three-game road trip.
Flyers 2, Senators 1 • Jakub Voracek and Wayne Simmonds scored goals and Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 33 shots in Philadelphia.
The win gave the Flyers a .500 record for the first time this season, at 11-11-1. Philadelphia has won five of its last seven games.
Bruins 3, Lightning 2 • Brad Marchand scored a tiebreaking goal on the power play with 2:16 left in the third period, completing Boston's comeback from a 2-0 deficit that extended the Bruins' winning streak to six straight in Boston.
Marchand's 11th goal of the season came late in a double-minor high sticking penalty to Brendan Mikkelson. It was the second power-play goal of the game for the Bruins, who had not scored at home with a man advantage entering the game.
Panthers goalie injured • Florida Panthers goalie Jose Theodore left the game against the Carolina Hurricanes just over two minutes in with an apparent leg injury.
Theodore, the 2002 NHL MVP with Montreal, kicked out his right pad to stop Jussi Jokinen on a 2-on-1 rush and immediately crumpled to the ice on the rebound attempt.
He was replaced by Scott Clemmensen after only 2:22 had elapsed.
