Italy's Mount Etna erupted Tuesday night, sending out a amazing display of shooting lava and hot ash that lit up the night sky.
Mount Etna is the tallest active volcano in Europe, the Atlantic points out, and is known for regular activity.
The activity has increased in recent months, however.
It erupted on Feb. 19 and the following couple of days, and again on Feb. 23 and 27. On Feb. 28, astronaut Chris Hadfield captured images of what the volcano looked like erupting from space.
