A Wisconsin man fell 300 feet to his death in south-central Utah's Eagle Canyon, the Emery County Sheriff's Office said.
Sheriff's Lt. Robert Blackburn said the victim, who has been identified as 19-year-old Donovan Campbell, of River Falls, Wis., was found about 4 p.m. Saturday.
The victim's truck was found parked on Interstate 70 at the top of the canyon by a Utah Highway Patrol trooper, who then spotted the body in the ravine below the cliff.
Sheriff's dispatchers checked the car's VIN number, which indicated the driver was "missing/endangered person from out-of-state," according to a news release.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported that Campbell — who had been reported missing by his family on April 5 — may have been depressed, though a cause of death was still under investigation on Monday.
The Utah State Medical Examiner's Office took custody of the body and planned an autopsy.
Donovan, a mathematics major, was a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
He reportedly had visited the Eagle Canyon area before while on vacation.
