A wonderful concept was unintentionally presented in the caption to the picture accompanying "For Utahn, debate over guns, self-defense frighteningly real" (Tribune, April 14). It said: "Eric Martin — shown armed with his fiancée …"
More people should be armed with fiancées (instead of guns). Unlike guns, fiancées are welcome everywhere — malls, churches, even on planes and in schools (though children should not have or be fiancées).
Fiancées do not require concealed-carry permits. Best of all, your openly displayed fiancée will elicit not cringes in fear but broad smiles and warm wishes.
