Crews respond Friday afternoon to a report of a working apartment fire at 7940 South Main Street in Midvale, but found only smoke.

There was light smoke in two or three units of the apartment complex, but no fire, said Unified Fire Department Capt. Clint Mecham.

Neither did firefighters find an obvious source for the smoker, he said.

By 4 p.m., once they were sure there was no threat to the building, firefighters began leaving the scene.
