The State Office of Education has released slightly revised graduation rates for Utah's Class of 2012 after discovering errors in the original numbers.
The statewide graduation rate is still 78 percent, up from 76 percent the year before. But the new numbers show graduation rates for most ethnic groups up by at least 1 percentage point. For example, the graduation rate for Latino students is now 63 percent, rather than 62 percent as reported in January. See the new rates at http://tinyurl.com/bt4xxw3.
Graduation rates for a number of school districts are also up by about 1 percentage point from the numbers reported earlier this year. Judy Park, state associate superintendent, said the numbers changed because some school districts made errors when submitting their original data.
"We discovered a few little minor problems in the data, so we had to make some little tweaks and fix it," Park said.
