Spanish Fork High School senior Jeffrey Coons was named this year's Utah recipient of the 11th annual Young Entrepreneur Award from the National Federation of the Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Foundation.

"I am so impressed with the Utah YEF winner this year," said Candace Daly, Utah state director for NFIB. "He started Coons Pinewood Derby. If you can provide everything to make a pinewood derby run smoothly, you have worked miracles. Sounds like this young man is going places."

Coons will receive $1,000 to $10,000 in tuition from the foundation to attend the university or community college of his choice.

The program was established to raise awareness about private enterprise and entrepreneurship.
