Attorneys David York and Andrew Howell have formed the firm of York Howell LLC, with offices at 6405 S. 3000 East, Suite 150 in Cottonwood Heights. They also are licensed to practice in Texas, Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming, Alaska and New York, and will focus on tax and estate planning, among other areas. Both were previously with Callister Nebeker & McCullough.
Burrito franchise
coming to Utah
Tavistock Restaurants has signed on a local franchisee for its fast-casual FREEBIRDS World Burrito restaurants. Mark McKay and Chris Beck-McKay of MC Food Service LLC have committed to build 10 locations in Utah, beginning with Salt Lake City. The two anticipate their first FREEBIRDS opening by the end of the year. There are 96 FREEBIRDS restaurants in Texas, Oklahoma, California, Louisiana, Kansas and Missouri.

aids scholarship
Sonora Grill in Ogden is giving more than $29,000 to the Weber State Scholarship Foundation through its April Dining for Dollars event to help a low-income, first-generation student in higher education pursuits. An anonymous donor matched the contribution. A two-year, full-tuition scholarship will be awarded to one college sophomore to be selected this month.
New challenge
to Dell takeover
One of the biggest critics of Michael Dell's plan to take the company he founded private has launched a fresh challenge to that $24.4 billion bid and says the slumping PC maker needs new leadership. Billionaire investor Carl Icahn has teamed with Dell's largest independent shareholder, Southeastern Asset Management, to pitch a deal that would let shareholders keep their stake in the company and give them either $12 per share in cash or additional shares.

$1.9B 2Q loss
The U.S. Postal Service s lost $1.9 billion over the last three months and warned that losses would continue to mount without help from Congress. The loss for the period ending March 31 was smaller than a $3.2-billion loss for the same period last year, thanks to slightly higher revenue and lower payments toward health benefits for workers who will retire in the future. But the Postal Service continues to lose money at a rapid pace.
Yoga franchise
opens in Utah
CorePower Yoga has opened its first Utah studio in the Salt Lake Valley, at Highland Square shopping center, 3142 Highland Drive. CorePower's location offers a spa-like atmosphere equipped with two full-sized yoga studios, men's and women's locker rooms and showers, and a waiting area. Classes encompass a variety of asanas, or poses, for all skill levels and are taught by certified instructors. The studio is offering individuals one week of unlimited free classes. The company is based in Denver.
