Ben Smith was at football practice when he suddenly collapsed on the field. He may have died if it wasn't for his coach, according to KUTV 2News.
The Orem High School sophomore was in a medically-induced coma Thursday night after he collapsed because of a heart condition, KUTV reports. Ben is expected to recover, thanks to Head Coach Tyler Anderson.
Ben showed no signs of a serious health problem until he collapsed in the middle of practicing sprints, according to KUTV. That's when Anderson ran to help his player, Rhonda Bromley, spokeswoman for Alpine School District, told the news station.
