In "Pushy liberals" (Forum, May 21), Patricia Sorensen writes that "These days it is OK to bash Jesus and Christianity, but leave the liberal left alone." I sympathize with Sorensen.
I can't imagine how difficult it must be for her to live in a country in which every single head of state since the nation was founded has shared her religious beliefs; where the vast majority of legislators at all levels of government are her fellow Christians; where all of her major holidays are publicly celebrated; where she has the right to espouse whatever religiously based politics she feels; and where she is free to marry the person she loves while advocating that others should not have that freedom because her religious leaders told her that they were sinful.
I don't know how Christians like Sorensen cope with being members of possibly the most oppressed group in history. It must be tough.
