lacrosse • Duke rallied from an early deficit to beat Syracuse 16-10 on Monday in Philadelphia and win its second NCAA men's lacrosse title. The Blue Devils trailed 5-0 in the second quarter. Jordan Wolf had four goals for Duke (16-5). But the real star for the Blue Devils was junior faceoff man Brendan Fowler, who won 20 of 28 faceoffs — including 13 straight at one point — to give Duke possession for long stretches.

soccer • Midfielder Maurice Edu has dropped out of the U.S. men's training camp in Cleveland ahead of the next World Cup qualifiers because of a sports hernia. Edu, fellow midfielder Brek Shea (calf) and defender Corey Ashe (groin) all withdrew Monday. No replacements were added to the roster, which now stands at 28 players. The Americans will play exhibitions against Belgium on Wednesday, and Germany on June 2, before beginning a stretch of three qualifiers including a match against Honduras at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy on June 18.

Kenyan men rule Bolder Boulder

RUNNING • Allan Kiprono defended his Bolder Boulder crown as he led Kenya to the International Team Challenge title, ending Ethiopia's six-year reign in the Memorial Day race in Colorado. Kiprono sprinted away from the field late in the 10-kilometer competition to finish in a time of 29 minutes, 28.79 seconds. Merima Mohammed cruised to an easy victory in the women's race in 33:58.79, helping Ethiopia win the team title.

OSU, Stanford players win titles

TENNIS • Blaz Rola of Ohio State and Nicole Gibbs of Stanford won NCAA singles titles Monday in Urbana, Ill. Gibbs repeated as women's champion after routing a hobbled Mary Weatherholt of Nebraska 6-2, 6-4. Gibbs dominated with a strong forehand after falling behind 3-2 early in the first set. Rola, who is from Slovenia, became the first men's tennis champion for the Buckeyes, beating Jarmere Jenkins of Virginia 7-6 (8), 6-4.
