Jim Timmel's "Born and unborn" (Forum, May 19) lacks an understanding of the complexity of the abortion issue. Whether pro-choice or anti-abortion, few would argue that the conviction of Dr. Hermit Gosnell for murdering newborn babies is not deserved.
However, the conviction is far from being an example that justifies an across-the-board law making all abortion illegal. There is a difference between aborting a potential baby and killing a baby.
No one "favors abortion." This terminology is inflammatory. Pro-choice does not imply that abortion is a "favorable" option.
