Southhampton, N.Y. • Newly hired Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd has a court date next week on eastern Long Island stemming from his arrest last summer on drunken driving charges.

Kidd has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor DWI and other charges. A spokesman for Suffolk County prosecutors confirms that Kidd is due in Southampton Town Court for a conference on June 20.

Kidd's attorney, Edward Burke Jr., did not immediately return a call seeking comment. Kidd suffered minor injuries when his vehicle hit a pole and veered into the woods in Water Mill last July.

After his arrest, Kidd said on Twitter that he regretted "any disruption my accident ... may have caused members of the community."

The misdemeanor charge carries the potential for up to a year in jail.
